About Me

Founder and Artistic Director of The Narrative Dance Company, Daniel Seulkee Kim, has studied all the various art forms throughout his life in great detail as an attempt to combine them in new and exciting ways. As analytical as he is creative, he is and always was fascinated about the function of things, whether physical or abstract. The questions in his head ranged from the methods used to create explosions on screen to how ocular and olfactory nerves affect emotions to tried and true business strategies. Having studied all aspects of the arts industry including the much neglected “money matters” his knowledge and tenacity will help propel his company to unimaginable heights.

The Narrative Dance Company is a multimedia dance theatre company with focus on storytelling and character development.

Our VISION is to inspire unorthodox methods of storytelling using various disciplines while rejecting the mundane “norm”.

Our MISSION is to combine DANCE, THEATRE, FILM, and MUSIC to create experiences often times impossible through single mediums alone and to invoke a sense of wonder, so lacking, in this unoriginal age.

Major/Field of Study:

2 Short-Term Goals:

Finalize The Narrative Dance Company startup.

Produce flagship production for November 2014.

2 Long-Term Goals:

Retain long term relationship with working professionals.

Sustain The Narrative Dance Company and expand beyond limits.

What I Can Do, What I Want to Do, What I Will Do, What I Have Done:

I once asked myself, "What are you?" Its all fine and well to have so many interests but without focus on the one thing that makes you who you are, it is really difficult to get ahead at anything. So I sat and racked my brain trying to choose one interest and charge it. Eventually I had come to realize the common denominator that links all the things I love doing is storytelling. I am a storyteller. I use whatever medium I have at my disposal to give experiences. To take the listener on a ride. Storytelling is what I can do, want to do, will do and what I have done before.

2 Short-Term Goals:

One short-term goal I have is to finish my last year of high school with straight A's. By doing this, I will have to work on time-management which will teach me responsibility later on in life.

My second short-term goal is to apply and get accepted to my colleges of choice. My first college of choice is USC and I'd like to attend there to study biology.

2 Long-Term Goals:

The first long-term goal I have is a goal I've had since I was in kindergarten, and that is to become a successful doctor. When I was young, this dream started out as me wanting to become a nurse, but as I grew, so did the expectations I had of myself. So, my dream of becoming a simple nurse evolved into becoming a surgeon.

My second long-term goal is to work hard enough to be able to support my family. I would really like to show them my appreciation and to thank them for all their help and support.

What I Can Do, What I Want to Do, What I Will Do, What I Have Done:

I can start by working hard and finishing high school.

I want to finish strong and get straight A's. I would also like to have a fun senior year while still being able to juggle school and basketball.

I will work hard and go to practice. I will also be learning a lot from Josh and Brian while working with them at Student Direct.

I have completed 11 years of high school, not including Pre-school and kindergarten, I have also played 3 years of basketball.
