Initiating Community Action hosted their second annual "Margarita Bash" event for cinco de mayo. During this event the STUDENT direct Organization Glendale Community College, chapter presented Initiating Community Action with the matching grant of $250 of which I.C.A. accumulated during the fall semester 2011 thru two successful organized fundraisers.
Aram Ter-Oganesyan the VP of Advertisement executed this arrangement with I.C.A.'s President Alex Tamrazian. The grant was endorsed by the STUDENTdirect Charitable Foundation. Joshua Chit Tun a volunteer of the STUDENTdirect Charitable Foundation said, "We love what I.C.A. represents and does and with a little support we believe that Initiating Community Action will be well recognized in the community and if not one of the most outstanding clubs at Glendale Community College.
I have had the privilege to participate in some of their service projects and to meet their membership. Their core values are in line with the principles of the STUDENTdirect Charitable Foundation. They offer scholarships to members and we hope in the future that we can strategically help them partner with multiple organizations to maximize their fundraising efforts. Plus how can you not support a group that makes amazing virgin margueritas. I'm having a great time with this group".
Besides being the recipient of the grant, I.C.A. also had a pull up bar setup. A highly anticipated part of the event. Can you imagine students doing pull up bars to raise money for scholarships. Pretty cool idea and in addition everyone seemed to like the margaritas. There was the option of strawberry or lemonade. Strawberry margaritas were the popular choice.
We asked a few people what they thought about the margaritas as well as the event, and this is what they had to say," Despite the weather, the margaritas sure were satisfying." STUDENT direct Organization volunteer staff members. "It is always great to support a cause, Initiating Community Action is a great group and has done a lot. Best of luck in the months to come. Overall, I.C.A. had a good turn out and once more met their fundraising goals. In the weeks to come, we will be following up with I.C.A. on their projects and events.
